Personal Bio:
Javier Cifuentes-Faura works in the Department of Financial Economics and Accounting at the University of Murcia (Spain). His lines of research include those related to public administration and economics, transparency, government, sustainability and green economics. He has published in more than 100 JCR impact journals, such as Public Performance & Management Review, Renewable Energy, Resources Policy, Local Government Studies, Economic Analysis and Policy or Journal of Policy Modeling. He is associate editor of several SSCI journals. He has participated in several international conferences, being invited to some of them as keynote speaker. He has been included in the prestigious Stanford University rankings as one of the 2% most influential researchers in the world in 2022.

Background:
Understanding how students have handled the pandemic requires an analysis of the changes that have taken place in education systems and higher education institutions, given the circumstances created by COVID-19 in education and the disarray that has resulted. The goal of this course is to comprehend how COVID-19 affects international students pursuing higher education in different nations. Higher education institutions worldwide can benefit from knowledge and support when responding to current and future emergencies by comparing the effects of COVID-19 in these nations.
Given the situation caused by COVID-19 in education and the confusion that has ensued, it is important to analyse the changes that have occurred in education systems and higher education institutions to understand how students have coped with the pandemic.
Goal / Rationale:
The adaptation of new learning and teaching practices during the COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted higher education students' learning. Through a cross-cultural and sociological lens, this study will analyze the pandemic's effects on students in Cambodia, Nigeria, Oman, and Spain. It will explore changes in students' learning behaviors, attitudes, well-being, and social dynamics, identifying challenges and shifts in education within these diverse cultural contexts. This workshop aims to provide insights into how higher education institutions can respond to similar crises, addressing the following key questions:
What impact has COVID-19 had on students' well-being, classroom adjustment, emotions, self-efficacy, and job turnover? How have sociocultural factors influenced students' experiences and responses across the selected countries?

Scope and Information for Participants:
This workshop is aimed at students, researchers, and individuals interested in higher education, quality education, sociology, and culture. The discussion will center on the latest developments in education and their implications from both a sociological and cultural perspective. The goal is to facilitate the exchange of experiences and ideas among participants, with an emphasis on understanding how educational practices are influenced by and contribute to societal and cultural dynamics. Additionally, the workshop seeks to provide solutions, recommendations, and policy discussions aimed at creating a high-quality education system that is sensitive to sociocultural contexts. Several keywords are provided to guide the thematic focus for interested participants, though the topics are not limited to these keywords.

Submission
All submitted papers should report original and unpublished work, experimental or theoretical, and are not under consideration for publications elsewhere. All papers should be no less than 4 pages in length and must strictly follow the format of the workshop template. All papers are subject to reviews and edits. Prospective authors are kindly invited to submit full text papers that includes title, abstract, introduction, tables/figures and references. Other styles of papers are not accepted. Please submit your papers in both .doc/.docx AND .pdf formats as attachments via email to ws_murcia@icsphs.org by the given deadline. It is unnecessary to submit an abstract in advance.

Publication
Accepted papers of the workshop will be published in Lecture Notes in Education Psychology and Public Media (Print ISSN 2753-7048), and will be submitted to Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI), Crossref, CNKI, Portico, Google Scholar and other databases for indexing. The situation may be affected by factors among databases like processing time, workflow, policy, etc.

Ways to Participate
To break the barriers of time and space and to provide seamless communication opportunities for worldwide scholars, both online and offline participation methods are supported for the workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring their own insights, experiences, and examples to share with the group through either presenting a poster online or attending in person.
Poster Session
The poster session will provide an opportunity for researchers to present their work in a visual and interactive way, allowing for more engagement and discussion with other attendees. Authors of qualified papers will be invited to present their works with digital posters. We believe that this online poster session will still be a great platform for participants to share, discuss, and cooperate.
All accepted authors will receive an invitation email to present at the official workshop website. Please note that all poster presenters must submit the poster before March 14, 2025. Poster Presentation Guidelines

Poster presentations must be prepared using the template provided:

- Posters should generally be in A1 size (width: 594mm x height: 841mm) and include the followings:
Title, author and co-author names, and the affiliation(s) information.
Body parts, including "Abstract", "Introduction", "Methods", "Results", "Discussion" and "Conclusions".
- Presenters are suggested to set the font size properly and avoid placing anything at the margin part of the poster as it will be difficult to view.
- Posters should be well illustrated. All the pictures used should be high quality and with high resolution.
- All the posters will be displayed online on the official website. Each poster will have both a small thumbnail and a full-size version.
- Posters will be displayed during the online session. After the presentation is over, the full-size version of all posters will become invisible. But thumbnails still can be seen on the website.

In order to ensure the information is correct and up to date, there may be changes which we are not aware of. And different countries have different rules for the visa application. It is always a good idea to check the latest regulations in your country. This page just gives some general information of the visa application.
UK Visa Information
According to the length of your stay in Spain, there are two main Spanish visa types:
- Spain Schengen visas. The Spain Schengen Visa is a short-term visa for Spain that gives the right to its visa holder to enter Spain, and remain there for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period. If you travelling to Spain for purposes foreseen by the Schengen visa and you are a national of the 62 countries under the Schengen visa regime , you do not need to apply for a Spain Schengen visa. Note that if you have previously been rejected from entering the Schengen territory visa-free, despite being a national of one of these countries, you will need to obtain a Schengen visa in order to be eligible to enter to Spain.

Spain long-stay visas. For staying in Spain for a period of longer than three months. Depending on the long-stay visa type you apply for, you may also be authorized to work in Spain. Only the nationals of the following are exempt from applying for these visas:
- European Union member countries.
- Norway
- Iceland
- Liechtenstein
- Switzerland
To apply for a Spain visa, follow the steps given below:
- Fill in the right visa application form.
- Collect the required documents.
- Make a visa appointment.
- Attend the visa interview and submit your biometrics.
- Pay the visa fee.
After you complete all these steps, you shall wait for the processing of your visa. You will receive an answer to your application, as soon as the processing is completed.
When is the Best Time to Apply for a Spanish Visa?As Spain is a member country of the Schengen area, it applies the Schengen visa rules to travelers seeking to enter its territory. Thus, when applying for a Spain visa, make sure you submit your application within the given time frame:
- The earliest: Six months before the date of your planned departure to Spain.
- The latest: Two weeks before the intended date of travel to Spain:
- Recommended: at least three weeks prior to your trip, so you can avoid any possible delay by the embassy.
Spain has a very strict system of visa submission and processing. As a result, visa submission is regulated by Spain in every world country. Thus, depending on the country you live in, you may have to submit your visa application at the:
- Spanish consulate.
- A Visa application center like TLS Contact, VFS Global or BLS International, to which Spain has outsourced visa submission in your country of residence.
Should your application be denied, the organizing committee cannot change the decision of visa officer, nor will ICSPHS engage in discussion or correspondence with the visa application center on behalf of the applicant. The registration fee CANNOT be refunded when the VISA application of individual being denied.
